Sundar Singh – Christian mystic evangelist to India
On December 3, 1903, a young Indian boy was about to end his life because he could not find God. In his turmoil, 14-year-old Sundar Singh vowed that if God did not reveal himself to him that night, he would throw himself under the express train which ran through his home village of Rampur early the next morning. “O God, if there be a God, reveal yourself to me before I die,” he prayed again and again. Fifteen minutes before he was due to carry out his desperate act, Sundar rushed into his father’s bedroom. Sher Singh was startled as his young son told him the unexpected and devastating news: “Father, I have seen Jesus!”
