Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Shares His Faith
After securing the Champions League, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp failed to lift the team to the top of the Premier League. But the start of this season has been a dream. So how does the Kop's boss cope?
Champions League winning coach Jurgen Klopp says life is a gift after crediting his faith in God for helping him in and out of the dugout.
Klopp masterminded Liverpool’s sixth victory in at the top table of European football with a 2-0 final victory over Premier League counterparts Tottenham in Spain.
However, Klopp and Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title after being narrowly pipped to the post by Manchester City. They were also a close second in last month’s Charity Shield – losing on penalties.
But after missing out last season, the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season has been a dream. Liverpool started November at the top after recording ten victories out of eleven, putting them six points clear of their North West rivals Manchester City.
Despite the successful start, the German coach knows there will be ebbs and flows in his life, and he looks on them with the perspective of his faith.
In a candid interview, Klopp told The Independent: “Mostly, my belief in God helped. Life is a present. We have to deal carefully with it. And have fun with it. Sometimes take care of it. And it doesn’t mean that everything goes in your direction. We are not five years old any more.
“If I try a thing, then I am responsible for getting it or not. If you don’t get it, try again. If it’s not important to you any more, then do something else.
“I know it will probably come up, and it’s a bit in everybody’s mind, about losing finals.
