Striker reveals how he’s dealing with death of daughter, aged 2
Bristol City strike Benik Afobe has spoken of how his family has found strength in their Christian faith following the death of his two-year-old daughter.
A severe infection caused Amora to pass away on November 29 and the frontman, who is on a season-long loan from parent club Stoke City, has revealed how he has found hope in God.
Hope in God
The Congo international said: “The support we have received is something we will never forget and it means the world to us.
“You’ve all given us hope and showed the world can come together at times like this and we can all be one.
“I wish I could reply to every person that has messaged me to tell everyone how much it means to us all from the bottom of our hearts.
Only our Lord Jesus Christ who can bring comfort
“Thank you to every football club who posted a message and for the world for being there for us. God bless you all. It is only our Lord Jesus Christ who can bring comfort at this time. Love Afobe family.”
Afobe has often been vocal about his faith on his Instagram page. In 2019 he shared a couple of posts from his trip to Israel where he got baptised with his mother in the Jordan River.
