It’s the biggest role of his incredible career, and actor Denzel Washington has revealed he’s been building up to it for eight years.
Washington, 68, now a vocal Christian, has starred alongside some of the film industry’s finest acting talent in movies including Cry Freedom, Crimson Tide and The Book of Eli.
His career now spans five decades, but it was relatively recently that it came to a turning point.
“In 2015, I said I’m no longer just going to speak through my work,” Washington told diners at the Church of God in Christ’s charity banquet. “I’m going to make a conscious effort to get up and speak about what God has done for me.”
He added that he reads the Bible every day, and was completing his second readthrough of the entire book.
