Meet the Founder

Peter Wreford is a passionate follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Having come to Christ on the first of January 1978, Peter devoted his life to following the Lord. A member of Stan Hyde’s church in Brixham, he saw a prolific church planter at work first hand, before heading off to study engineering.

He wasn’t there long before he felt the call of God to ministry, however. Despite opposition from his family, he set off to study and found himself at Mattersey Hall Bible College. Whilst there Peter met his wife, Helen, whom he married shortly after. Peter met Helen whilst working for her father, Paul Mercy during the summer between years at Bible College. What was initially a mutual dislike turned into a blossoming love affair and 25 years of marriage pay testimony to the strength of their relationship.

After leaving Mattersey, Peter worked as assistant pastor to Paul Mercy in Sheffield for 13 years before moving on to become editor of the Assemblies of God Publication, Joy Magazine. During his time in Sheffield, he launched New Life, a tabloid evangelistic newspaper. Peter continues to run New Life Publishing Company which now produces Joy Magazine for Assemblies of God as well as Direction Magazine for Elim, New Life Newspaper and Heroes of the Faith.

Peter and Helen have three children and live in a small village near Nottingham. He enjoys go-karting and is an excellent DIY-er.

Peter’s burning desire is to see the Gospel taken to every home in the country. You can join with him in this aim by giving out New Life today.
